WELCOME TO THE HARMONY SCHOOL FOUNDATION
Our goal is to deliver sanitary pads to girls in need on the Western Cape

PLEASE HELP OUR RSA GIRLS STAY IN SCHOOL!
Your R20 will make a huge difference to an impoverished young woman.
SOUTH AFRICAN GIRLS ARE USING RAGS, NEWSPAPER, LEAVES, GRASS, BARK & EVEN SOCKS FILLED WITH SAND BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD SANITARY PADS. STUDENTS ARE OFTEN ABSENT FROM SCHOOL TO BLEED AT HOME, MISSING UP TO 60 DAYS OF SCHOOL PER YEAR
A CRISIS AMONG OUR YOUTH
We cannot allow girls to have to beg their neighbors and friends for pads. Girls cannot be forced to continue to use make shift pads like; face cloth, rags, tissues, socks filled , toilet paper, newspaper, leaves, bark, rags, cloths, grass and even dried cow dung. The government has promised free pads for marginalized young women in 2009 but nothing had materialized, until last year when they started supply a small number of girls but the majority continue to struggle and be humiliated monthly.

"A third of girls who get their periods in school have no have access to sanitary pads, and another 15% reporting that pads must be purchased from the school administration. The lack of access to sanitary pads is dramatically more common at lower-quintile (poorer) schools, according to the report.
Sinoyolo Booi, a student at Usasazo Secondary School, said the lack of sanitary pads causes her to miss class. Mzimkulu said some girls use socks in place of pads.""

OUR SCHOOLS

Kairos Secondary School
Kairos Secondary School In Heidelberg was one of the first schools we supplied and their caring headmaster, Mr Prins, is so overjoyed at the change he has seen in his pupils over the last 3 months. Have a look at the video of Mr Prins and his feedback. These girls are so fortunate to have the involved and proactive headmaster and staff that hey have at Kairos

Panarama Primary School
Panarama Primary School is in Riverdale and they have most wonderful headmaster, Mr Kallies, whose interaction and open minded way of speaking to his girls about their menstruation was inspirational to watch. He told the girls to be proud of themselves and their menstruation. The girls were enthusiastic and said they are relieved not to go to Mr Kallies to tell him they need to go home because they have "bled through" their newspaper or rags onto their uniforms

Voorwaarts Primary School
At Voorwaarts Primary School it was surpring to see how young the girls were who had started menstruating. Their headmistress, Mrs Beukes , explained to the girls how to dispose of the pads hygienically, which made us aware that there is a need for bins and packets for disposal of the pads - we will need to look for sponsors for these in the future as well

Enkululejweni Primary School
The ward councillor, Xoliswa Pakela-Mapasa contacted us and asked us to help her support a few of the school in her ward. We started supplying Enkululejweni and four other schools in her ward from this month. We were able to do this due to a donation from a concerned Dutch business man and his compassionate wife, who really want o make a difference to our girls
